Explore the role of civic engagement for younger generations on Election Day. Join content creator Nikita Redkar as she discusses how she uses her platform to raise awareness, promote civic action, empower their communities, and inspire the new generation to become changemakers.

Guest Speaker
Nikita Redkar is a news and culture commentator on social media. She presents and approaches current events through the language of gossip magazines, dishes cultural critiques through parody, and has garnered millions of likes on TikTok and Instagram.
Professional Development Workshops
Participants will also have the opportunity to attend two of the following workshops.
- Curriculum Guide: New York City’s Rent Strikers | Explore a new curriculum guide that explores how activism, laws, and reform impacted housing conditions through a selection of historical newspapers.
- Creating and Facilitating a Civic Action Project | Learn how to make civics education engaging with NYPL databases, resources, and programs.
- Civics Learning with NYPL Exhibitions | Discover new ways to pair civics lessons with an exhibition tour of the Library’s permanent exhibition.
Eligible NY State educators can receive 4 CTLE credit hours for participating—plus free curricular resources!
Space is limited! Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Light breakfast will be provided for those attending.
