A new walkway on John Nolen Drive. A redesign of the Lake Monona waterfront. A rapid increase in apartment units. The Madison food scene featured on national television show, Top Chef. Though a relatively small city, Madison is getting noticed — for many good reasons, and more to come.
Get the inside scoop on what’s next for downtown Madison as we take a walking tour with Jason Ilstrup, President of Downtown Madison, Inc. (DMI). Jason will share his perspective on what makes downtowns successful and highlight upcoming projects and investments that are reshaping downtown Madison and its lakeshore. In the spirit of the Old Testament prophet Jeremiah (29:7), attendees will glean insight about how we might “seek the peace and prosperity of our city,” as we learn about the latest things to celebrate and things to pray for in our community.
What to Expect
We will gather at Downtown Madison, Inc’s office (near the Square, at 122 W. Washington Avenue, Suite 250). After appetizers and a brief presentation, our group will embark on a 1.5-2 mile walking tour (60-70 minutes, focusing on the Square, State Street, and parts of campus) that will conclude at the DMI offices.
NOTE: Being intrepid Midwesterners, less-than-ideal weather does not deter us! Rain or shine, we will go forth, appropriately garbed in sunhats or raincoats. If the weather becomes too inclement, we will email registrants an update.
