About this Event
CITY READS: RESISTANCE
From inner struggles to standing up against injustice, resistance takes many forms. These short plays confront fear, challenge power, and speak truth. Join us for an evening of stories and conversation and help us make a difference.
This month, City Theatre is partnering with Lotus House, supporting women, youth, and children experiencing homelessness. We’ll be collecting nonperishable food donations at the event, including:
Juice boxes • Shelf-stable milk • Tuna (can or pouch) • Breakfast items (cereal, cream of wheat, oatmeal) • Spices • Beans • Sugar • Pasta/Rice • Cooking oil • Ground coffee • Individual snacks
Bring an item to contribute and be part of the spirit of resistance through care and community.
Come out a bit early to enjoy beverages or a snack at Books & Books (full-service restaurant and bar).
ABOUT CITY READS
City Reads creates spaces where Miami-Dade audiences gather for short plays and shared conversation. A curated selection of short plays read by South Florida's leading actors is offered at intimate, accessible spaces across the county. Audiences explore stories through themes like family, identity, and love, then join in conversations led by City Theatre artists. Always free and open to all, City Reads makes live theatre part of everyday life in Miami.
This program is made possible with the support of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners and the City of Coral Gables.
