City of Worcester and the SDO Present: How to Utilize Your Certification

Congratulations, your business is now SDO certified! Your certification with the SDO is valid for three years - so how can you best utilize it? The presentation will answer your question in three parts:

1. Depending on what type of product or service a business provides, there may be an opportunity for certified entities to participate in state contracting. Small business purchasing is also very important to Commonwealth agencies. We will review these two routes to state contracting in a bit more detail.
2. If you’re interested in contracting with the state or a municipality, you’ll need to get familiar with the state's online procurement system named Commbuys. We'll be presenting a few tips and tricks for navigating the site.
3. Not interested in working with the state or local governments? No problem, this event is still for you. While the SDO’s primary function is to get folks informed about and prepared for statewide contracting, it’s not always the best fit for every business. We have a host of resources and connections we’ll be sharing as well.
