About this Event
Join us at Plank Road Public Shoreline for a City of Water Day stewardship event! Plank Road is a unique street end site in Maspeth, Queens, that we have been working to restore for both wildlife and local workers/residents alike.
We aim to engage folks with this rare public waterfront access area through hands-on projects that can help improve environmental conditions along the shore, upland site, and in the Creek itself.
This event will include:
- Landscaping the existing vegetation and paths
- Trash cleanup along the upper shoreline
- Solarizing ground to prepare for native plant restoration
- Removing specific invasive plant species, like knotweed
We will be meeting near 48-01 58th Rd, past the DSNY parking lot. This event will run from 4pm-7pm. We will provide gloves, tools, safety vests, and guidance on how to safely complete our tasks for the day. Before the event, registrants are required to complete a liability waiver and photo consent form. Light snacks and beverages provided.
