About this Event
National Housing Day, officially recognized by the Federal Government of Canada in 2000, recognizes the ongoing efforts to improve access to safe and affordable housing across the country. This day highlights the achievements and challenges in addressing housing issues.
The City of Hamilton's National Housing Day event will focus on the latest in safe and affordable housing with a special presentation by community partner Shawn MacKeigan of Mission Services, highlighting the work they are doing to move people along the housing continuum. Other presentations include updates from staff of the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation, the Cityβs Housing Secretariat and Housing Services Divisions. Licensing and By-Law Services Division staff will present on their upcoming Safe Apartments By-Law.
Join us after the presentations for light refreshments, networking and engagement opportunities with community partners. Enjoy an art exhibit curated by persons with lived/living experience in housing and homelessness.
