The Oak Park Estates Neighborhood Association (OPENA) has collaborated with the City of Dallas Code Compliance Department to hold a Citizens Code Academy in our area. The Citizens Code Academy is an opportunity to become aware of the core functions and services provided by the City of Dallas Code Compliance Department. The Academy seeks to promote clean and safe neighborhoods through community empowerment and action by creating and maintaining strong partnerships between citizens' organizations and Code Compliance Services. It is a 4-hour class that is free for participants. All interested residents of nearby neighborhoods, especially those served by the Southwest Division on West Illinois, are welcome to sign up. Among the topics that will be covered in the Academy include: the organizational structure of the department, premise violations, substandard structures, 3-1-1 overview, community partnerships, and more! If you are a long-time resident of Dallas, the Citizen Academy will give you a fresh perspective on the current issues facing the city and will empower you to become more engaged in keeping our neighborhoods clean and safe! The class will be held in the Neil Armstrong Room in the Business Center at the Dallas Executive Airport. A Zoom Session link will be provided for remote attendees.
At the conclusion of the academy, there will be a graduation ceremony at the training center with certificate presentations and photographs. For more information, please contact one of these individuals:
