The “Catches” project is a three act experimental play that renders an alternative Tulsa history-specifically a convulsive, multi-day episode in it’s early 20th century history. We illuminate the day to day lives of an enclave of black hoteliers, restaurants owners, entertainers and other merchant people and a host of older folks and children- some killed, many burned, all displaced by apostles of Tulsan Tate Brady and his crew. Importantly, the work imagines that, Brady, a toxic Tulsa founding figure, predator entrepreneur, keystone Klan leader and serial disrupter is formally prosecuted for his ostensible crimes during 1917-1922.
