Conceived, curated, produced and presented by Kaushiki Chakraborty and Shantanu Moitra.
Supported by Ambi Subramaniam (violin), Rahul Wadhwani (piano), Rickraj Nath (guitar), Ralph Menezes (bass guitar), Vaibhav Wavikar (drums & percussion) and Archit Shah (keyboard) & Rishith Desikan (vocal).
Conceived by composer Shantanu Moitra and vocalist Kaushiki Chakraborty, Pankh brings together two creative forces united by a shared belief that music doesn’t just help us soar—it brings us home to who we truly are.
As the daughter and disciple of Ajoy Chakrabarty, the eminent exponent of the Patiala gharana, Kaushiki Chakraborty is known for her extraordinary command over the voice and effortless exposition in diverse genres. Recognised for his artistic explorations beyond the realms of conventional music, Shantanu Moitra is an award-winning composer who has composed music for notable Hindi films like Parineeta, 3 idiots, Lage Raho Munnabhai and more.
Coming from such different musical backgrounds, in an attempt to rediscover themselves, Kaushiki and Shantanu join hands to conceive Pankh, which is a collection of songs—each born from a story, and each, a world unto itself. Some songs are penned by Kaushiki herself. Musically, the compositions traverse a wide range of forms from poignant thumri and devotional odes to exhilarating love songs and stimulating folk tunes. Supported by a host of young talented instrumentalists, the evening also puts spotlight on Kaushiki’s son and disciple, Rishith Desikan, as a rising star gearing up to carry on his musical legacy.
