About this Event
Who is in your circle and makes you feel cared for?
What fills up your cup?
Where do you resource yourself, and what do you do when you get there?
Uncover the answers to these questions at Circles of Care, a collage and creative writing workshop by Nourish.
Circles of Care is an immersive experience that blends the art of collage with creative writing and guided conversations. This hands-on, instructor-led workshop harnesses the power of images and language as tools to help caregivers reconnect with themselves, experiment, and explore how care flows through their lives.
Join us for an evening of creative self-recovery and deep dialogue in a supportive community space. Collage supplies will be provided. Come as you are; no artistic experience is required.
Meet Your Facilitators
(she/her) is an interdisciplinary artist, art historian, and organizational consultant who transforms the art of storytelling and collage into immersive learning experiences. Through her studio, Nourish, she helps leaders cultivate cultures of creativity, connection, and care.
Rooted in the Black American traditions of cooperation and community organizing, Michaela is also the creator and host of (BHS), a platform that celebrates the creative power of Black women--past and present. Through a place-based podcast, essays, and community events, BHS elevates narratives that stimulate the radical imagination and explore liberatory ways Black communities care for one another and Mother Earth.
is a Detroit-born poet, professor, arts administrator, and flower child, whose work lives at the intersection of language, lineage, and liberation.
Black womanhood and the direct impact of the carceral system as an adoptee have influenced her writing and teaching as a means to explore how inquiry, survival, and memory shape identity.
Her poetry appears in Obsidian, Clearline Magazine, and Room Object, with performances featured on PBS, Button Poetry, and All Def Poetry. She is a proud fellow of Kresge Arts in Detroit, CultureSource, The Watering Hole, Torch Literary Arts, and PEN America.
