Oncology Yoga at the Yurt
“Circle of Healing”
Sunday, November 2, 2025, 3-5 pm,
Join Maggie Kiedrowski, YYT-200, Certified yoga4cancer Instructor and breast cancer survivor, for this Oncology Yoga Class. This class is open to anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer, those who are currently in treatment, and cleared by their health care provider to do yoga or exercise, or those living with the side effects from cancer treatments.
Cancer is so hard on our bodies - physically, emotionally, and psychologically. The treatments cause side effects that can linger for years. Our bodies are scarred and forever changed. We are all left with different challenges and goals. What is the same for all of us is a desire to do what we once did and look the way we once were. Yoga can help reduce stress and anxiety, cope with uncomfortable side effects from treatments, reconnect with your body after surgery, and build back strength, flexibility, and balance.
This event will include an hour-long gentle yoga practice, which will include breathing exercises, meditation, slow gentle yoga movements and stretches, longer-held poses designed to enhance deep relaxation and release built-up tension, and a long savasana ( resting pose) at the end. This type of yoga provides the perfect balance of movement and rest, helping you unwind and reconnect with your inner calm. After yoga, there will be an hour in the beautiful, cozy yurt for an opportunity to build community. This will be a safe space to share your journey with others who are on a similar path. You are welcome to stay for both or leave when you need to. We will move through poses slowly and gently with modifications offered throughout the practice, making it accessible for everyone.
The yurt provides a sacred, nurturing sanctuary. This class is inspired by the circular, embracing shape of the yurt. We will focus on community, wholeness, and the continuous cycles of healing.
All yoga props are available at the yurt. You need only bring yourself, water, and clothing that you can move freely in. I look forward to helping you incorporate yoga into your cancer recovery.
