Clubside Talks is a new format by the collective Ciocia Czesia, curating evenings in a cosy club setting that bring together artists, performers, and the public for an open discussion about a woman’s right to choose whether to remain pregnant or not. Believing that this right is a basic human one, Ciocia Czesia helps people in Poland find legal and safe abortion in the Czech Republic.
Clubside Talks aims to create a safe and welcoming platform for discussion. Curating individual evenings with artists whose work is concerned thematically with corporeality, occupying and existing within the body and the necessity of freedom of choice in deciding what to do with that body, these evenings provide a unique framework for discussion and sharing.
The evening will begin with a screening from Vienna-based artist, filmmaker and choreographer Claudia Lomoschitz, whose work investigates embodied politics, reproductive fantasies
and queer-feminist historiographies. Her fascinating short film Lactans, which examines milk as a mythological substance and historical material, will premiere in the Czech Republic in the Petrohradska film theatre space.

Ciocia Czesia will also host Prague-based Polish-Chinese musician and composer Ai fen, whose new album I’ve Been a Body examines the fragility of our ephemeral bodies through the lens of maternity. The evening will split the album into two meditational segments, inviting deep listening followed by introductions by Ai fen about individual track themes, meanings and intentions leading into a discussion about the right to choose moderated by Ciocia Czesia.

Tereza Silon is a performer, embodied researcher and socially-critical bodyworker. In their interdisciplinary practice, they have long worked with embodiment and corporeality, queer perspectives, socialnatural ecologies, the collective body and possibilities of creating space for generative intimacy in an extractive system.

Clubside Talks is a non-rigid format aiming to invite everyone to speak and share. Together, we can unravel the discourse around bodies and better understand the sociopolitical and historical influences putting pressure on us and our bodies.
