NOW PLAYING: "The Thing" (1982) dir. John Carpenter
“Nobody trusts anybody now… and we’re all very tired.”
Set in icy cold Antarctica, "The Thing" is truly a chilling work of sci-fi horror directed by a legend of the genre. It follows a team of American scientists who discover a mysterious alien creature that can mimic any living organism. As the creature begins to infiltrate their ranks, paranoia, and fear spread among the survivors, leading to a deadly battle for survival.
The film's use of practical effects and body horror make it a classic of the genre. It will make you think twice about your neighbor and fearful of defibrillators. Starring Carpenter regulars Kurt Russell (Escape from NY/LA, Big Trouble in Little China) and Keith David (They Live), The film's use of practical effects and body horror make it a classic of the genre. It will make you think twice about your neighbor and fearful of defibrillators.
Released in the summer of 1982, John Carpenter's remake of the 1950's classic "The Thing from Another World" faced some stiff competition from Steven Spielberg's family-friendly alien flick "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial." The film's graphic violence was too intense for audiences at the time but has since become a cult classic!
Screening is FREE to attend, RSVP is encouraged! We'll have food on site from our friends at Chismosa Cafe and a VHS/Record pop-up from Spinning Plate Records for all your horror movie/music needs!
