If you know me enough, you know I can’t pass up an intelligent vampire film (vampires in film and literature was the most popular course of my teaching career at GSU), and this one is quite extraordinary. Shot in Virginia on an ultra-low budget of $80,000, this debut feature by writer-director West Eldredge is a miracle of indie cinema, a remarkable collaboration of his actors and crew. It’s obviously a natural fit for our program and our commitment to new filmmakers. To celebrate this special screening, director West Eldredge and producer Cory Mason will join us in person for a Q & A after the film. It’s an event you don’t want to miss. 110 minutes.
Even though the film has been recognized at small festivals around the US, there are hardly any reviews so here is a short synopsis I have for you right now:
A grieving local man finds solace and intrigue in a mysterious young woman who purchases his old farmhouse. When a town resident goes missing, the local police captain begins to suspect a sinister presence looming over their community.
