Sign and See the World (Dutch: Teken en Zie de Wereld) is a short documentary recounting the largely forgotten story of three young Surinamese men who left home during World War II to fight in Europe for the liberation of the Netherlands. Motivated by the promise of 'sign and see the world' and a strong sense of loyalty to the kingdom, Guillaume Kranenburg, Willy Wooter, and Harry Davis embark on their journey. They encounter discrimination within the Dutch army, which initially rejected them, and endure rigorous training in Canada and Wolverhampton. Once in Europe with the Princess Irene Brigade, they are confronted with the harsh realities of war, discovering that the adventure they envisioned is far from reality. The documentary illuminates their personal motivations, bravery, and sacrifices, revealing a forgotten chapter of history. Sign and See the World received its world premiere at the Go Short International Short Film Festival 2025, where it won both the Audience Award and Young Jury Prize, and was also selected for the Golden Calf competition.

Sunny is a short coming-of-age film that explores themes of identity, belonging, and resilience. Fito, a gifted guitarist, dreams of leaving Curaรงao to build a music career abroad, but struggles to let go of his past love, Sunny. As he prepares to leave the island to study in the Netherlands, he spots his ex-girlfriend with someone new and makes a drastic decision just before his departure. Gruber's sensitive direction highlights the emotional depth of the characters while reflecting on broader cultural and societal contexts. Sunny was shown for the first time at the Curaรงao International Film Festival, received its international premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival, and has since been shown at various film festivals, including the Trinidad & Tobago Film Festival in Port of Spain and the Playa Film Festival in Aruba, where the film won six awards, including Best Short Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Cinematography

German Gruber is a Venezuelan-born, Curaรงao-based filmmaker known for his compelling storytelling that explores identity, love, and the complexities of leaving home. Born in Caracas in 1980, he moved to Bonaire at age 12 and later studied film at the Utrecht School of the Arts in the Netherlands. German's work reflects his Caribbean cultural heritage, with films such as The Legend of Buchi Fil (2008) and Sensei Redenshon (2013), both set in Curaรงao and spoken in Papiamentu (and both available on streaming platform YardVibes). Through authentic storytelling and culturally resonant themes, German has established himself as a significant voice in contemporary Caribbean cinema.

Clinging to the hope of saving his marriage, smooth-talking Hobi tries to smooth things over with his wife by selling his car, much against his own wishes. On his weekly โ€˜daddy dayโ€™ with his two year old Chico he juggles on errand after another. Over the course of the day, however, he becomes increasingly entangled in his own excuses and faces a difficult choice with far-reaching consequences for both himself and his family. Hobi premiered at IFFR earlier this year, got selected for the Curaรงao International Film Festival and Caribbean Film Festival in Trinidad & Tobago, and was shortlisted for the Golden Calf for Best Short Film, with Kendrick Etmon earning a nomination for Best Actor as his turn as Hobi.

Aramis Garcia Gonzalez (1989) is a self-taught filmmaker based in Amsterdam, with Aruban, Colombian, and Dutch heritage. Without formal film school training, he developed his voice through a lifelong fascination with cinema and television. From Hollywood blockbusters and telenovelas to arthouse films, anime, and gaming. This diverse foundation continues to shape his unique narrative perspective. Critics praise Aramis for his emotionally grounded storytelling, visual restraint, and nuanced character work. His films often center on quiet conflict and unspoken longing, told through subtle performances and careful pacing. His previous work includes Pariba (available on streaming platform YardVibes) a tender coming-of-age story set in Aruba, and Laat me binnen, a minimalist drama about emotional distance within a family. Aramis is currently developing his first two feature films, continuing to explore new genres with a deep commitment to authenticity.
