Student Night is CIM’s Vancouver Branch premier annual event. The aim of Student Night is to connect our UBC, SFU, and BCIT Students within the Mining and Earth Sciences programs with Industry Professionals for an evening of excellent networking and the presentation of thousands of dollars in scholarships, awards and prizes for Graduate and Undergraduate Students.

Bio

Ryan C. Hoel is the President and Chief Operating Officer of Seabridge Gold, a prominent North American gold exploration and development company. With over 25 years of experience in the mining industry, Hoel has established himself as a seasoned professional in large-scale project management, development, and operations. He joined Seabridge in September 2021 as Vice President of Projects, initially leading the Substantially Started activities at the company's flagship KSM Project in northern British Columbia, Canada. Hoel's career trajectory at Seabridge has been marked by rapid advancement, as he was promoted to Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in August 2022 and subsequently to President and Chief Operating Officer in January 2024. Before joining Seabridge, Hoel held various executive and project director roles at major mining companies, including Rio Tinto, Lundin Mining, New Gold, Arizona Mining, and South32. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, an MBA from Westminster Gore School of Business, and is a registered Professional Engineer.
