There have been bridges over the River Medway between Rochester and Strood since Roman times and currently there are two road bridges and a service bridge. The Bridge Team at the Rochester Bridge Trust will cover the history of the Trust as well as the various past and present bridges. They will also cover issues such as bridge maintenance including Net Zero Carbon status, abnormal loads, street works and challenges presented by traffic passing over and under the bridges. This includes frequent bus services and HGV movements and at times high levels of traffic congestion both on a general basis and at times of closures of the other crossings.
