Cider from apples and Perry from pears are amongst some of the most exciting drinks currently experiencing a grass-roots revival in the UK.

Following on from last year's Cider & Perry tasting, where we began to explore the rich variety of drinks that can be made from culinary, dessert, wild, bittersweet, sharp, rare or traditional apples and pears, we want to delve deeper and taste some delicious new examples as the seasons turn.

From delicately sweet Swedish ice cider that soars to the same lofty heights as filigreed German Riesling, to the deep, bass tones of all-star varieties such as Kingston Black, all brawn and gusto for the table. Barrel-aged or bottle-fermented like Champagne, cidermakers are pushing the envelope and creating flavoursome drinks that are sometimes half the strength of wine, providing a more easy-going accompaniment for an evening meal.

As before, many of the famous cider counties of England will be represented, as well as a smattering of our European neighbours, and we can't wait to see what you think of this year's crop!

We will also be pairing each cider with some lovely & ripe cheese from small producers.

Our shop tastings start at 7.30pm and run for approximately one-and-a-half to two hours. We will taste 6-8 ciders on a theme, and bread and cheese is provided to match with the ciders. Due to the communal nature of the tasting, we are unable to cater for dietary requirements.
