*TICKETING & DOOR POLICY*
Whilst we occasionally run ticketed Friday Night Specials, entry for our regular weekly Thursday club nights is on a first-come-first-served basis and unticketed and we do not take advanced seat bookings.
Entry for regular club nights is free, we pay our guests by way of a *CASH* collection. Whilst we understand that some simply haven't the means to make a contribution and absolutely DO NOT wish to exclude them, we expect those who can to make as generous a donation as they are able in recognition of our guest's work.
*PLEASE CHECK FOR UPDATES BEFORE SETTING OUT*
Life is full of unexpected ups and downs, illness, weather and other unexpected things can spoil the best made plans. We may sometimes have to change our guest at short notice, or even cancel an evening altogether. To avoid disappointment please re-visit the relevant night's event for updates *BEFORE* setting out.
*CIARÁN BOYLE
Ciarán is a bodhrán master & singer in Irish tradition.
Ciarán was brought up in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, his father emigrating from Co. Kilkenny along with his brother and sister in the fifties. He brought with him a knowledge and passion for music and song which he passed on to all five of his children. He learned a great deal from his Dad, the late Tommy Boyle who was well known in South Yorkshire where he was often to be heard in sessions. His mum was a traditional singer too, and Ciarán counts himself lucky to be brought up in a house full of music and travelling musicians.
He went on to win All Britan and All Ireland bodhrán titles by the time he was thirteen years old. He then formed with Eoin Tether and Patrick Walker, the much acclaimed Mulljumpers.
He later joined forces with Tom Napper, and Gina Le Faux to become one third of Napper Le Faux and Boyle. Ciarán later became a member of Last Night's Fun, touring at home and abroad until December 2008. He has also performed with Kevin Burke, Tommy Peoples and Mike McGoldrick.
He released his first solo album in 2006 entitled 'The Sunday Walks'.
He is also in demand for recording and session work, some of his past session work includes:-
Tom Napper, Tom Bliss , ‘The Kelping’, slip 008, 2005
Pauline Cato, ‘The New Tyne Bridge’, Tomcat , 2005
Tom McConville, ‘Tommy On The Bridge’, Tomcat Music, 2006
Tom McConville, ‘Tommy On Song’, Tomcat Music, 2008
Ray Hearne, 'The Wrong Sunshine', No Master's Voice, 2009
Not to mention TV, Radio and DVD:-
BBC - 'Natural World Ireland', soundtrack, 2006
ITV Yorkshire - 'Heartbeat', 1994
RTE Ireland - 'The Long Note', 1983
Cara DVD - 'A Time To Be Heard', 2007
RTE Recording for the Pascal Mooney Show & The Irish in Britain, 2009
His CDs, ‘Sunday Walks’ and 'Bright Flame' will doubtless be available for purchase on the night.
