Friends!Temperatures are dropping fast and the nights are long. We have one more jam left before we break until January; let's huddle together in Score Studio this coming Sunday, December 14th!
I can't tell you how pleased I am that Jovanina Pagano has become a regular teacher at our jam. She's been teaching CI for decades, and is one of the clearest thinkers around. What I like to say about Jovanina is -- she's just so easy to learn from!
Madeleine Grace will be creating soundscapes for us, which are never short of magical.
Details below :) Can't wait to see you.

Leaving something behind...organization, release, and individuation in CI
Sometimes the dance calls for bringing all of our limbs with us - a dynamic and collective engagement of the body. Sometimes, though, we want to leave something behind, expanding the kinesphere and bringing different possibilities into the dancing moment. We will explore "leaving something behind" through a solo warm up, leading to an exploration within duets, and expanding out to the whole group.
* please arrive to class 10 minutes early so we can start on time
* all levels warmly welcomed
Jovanina Pagano is a dedicated student and teacher of Contact Improvisation, Afro-Haitian folkloric dance, Body-Mind Centering, and Iyengar Yoga. She has shared her love of yoga and dance with the New York City public and private schools, St. John the Divine, Heifetz International Music Institute, Jackson Hole Dancer’sWorkshop, Key West Dance Company, and the City-Wide Youth Opera. Currently, co-produces contact improvisation events at the Peaceable Barn Studio in Redding, CT.

Can I bring my kid/s?
Kids are magical beings and we welcome them. If you bring yours, please stay near them and make sure they are safe and respectful of all jam guidelines.
I haven't done Contact Improv in 20 years! Is this jam right for me?
We invite dancers/humans of all levels of experience and types of ability to this jam. We trust you to know your limits and we encourage you to observe and rest as you'd like. If you have questions or need help, please feel free to approach Leah or anyone else that looks open to offering support.
I've never done CI and barely know what it is. How can I participate?
Absolute beginners should let the host know that they are new to the form so that proper support and guidance can be provided. You are welcome to watch for the first jam, if you'd like, or if you'd like to join in, we will make sure you are buddied up with someone who can show you some basics. Witnessing other dancers is always welcome and is a valued contribution to the dance environment.
Is the studio accessible by wheelchair?
Unfortunately, it is not. Please email us to let us know how we can best make your attendance possible and comfortable.
