✨️Taking an in-person class or workshop with hands-on guidance is the best way to experience what it's like to try a new art or craft before investing in all the supplies and materials needed to start a new hobby.
🌈In this 3 hour class, students will learn the basics of hand knitting and finger knitting by creating customized Chunky Hand Knit Blankets.
☀️Students will be taught and shown how to knit blankets using only their hands. Students will follow demonstrations on how to create basic knit stitches, learn how to tie skeins together and change colors, as well as finish off and tuck in ends. Students will have the option to record the finishing off part of the demonstration in the case that they do not finish during class time.
🌸There are 2 options available for this class: bring your own yarn and only pay the instruction fee of $45, or pay $90 and 4 skeins of chunky blanket yarn will be provided for you. If you choose to bring your own yarn, I will provide you with my Yarn Recommendations list prior to class.
💡Students are encouraged to bring their own unique ideas, but are more than welcome to recreate the designs of Stargirl's Chunky Hand Knit Blanket samples. Options for intermediate students will be provided as well.
👩🎨Anna Beres, aka Stargirl Crafts, has experience with all of the mediums and materials you will be exploring. She has been teaching art and craft classes, workshops, and private lessons for 2 years. Previously an art instructor for Michaels, she taught for over a year throughout 2023 in Valparaiso. She has been selling her creative work for over a decade, and is a dedicated mixed-media artist, crafter, and instructor. She is a local artist having earned her bachelors degree in art from Valparaiso University. She is the organizer of the region's Local Art Club and has helped fundraise for non-profit organizations through her classes.
📩Message Stargirl Crafts to set up a private lesson even if the current day or time provided for the event listed happens to conflict with your schedule or happens to be fully booked. With open availability during both weekdays and weekends, she will work with you closely to schedule a lesson that accommodates your availability.
📍Stargirl Crafts' studio is located in Westville, which is very close to Valpo, Michigan City, Chesterton, and LaPorte. She has both a craftroom and painting studio available that can seat up to 4 students depending on the art or craft project. For larger groups, she rents a local space.
❗️This class or workshop is currently being offered as a group lesson at the Valpo Creates Center. This workshop costs $45-$90 per student and allows students to start their very own Chunky Hand Knit Blanket. Project completion depends on the amount of skeins used, size of the blanket, size of stitches, and knitting speed. I've had students as young as age 8+ complete their blanket having used 4 skeins within the time frame. This craft is recommended for beginners, ages 8+ and older.
