About this Event
Who is welcome to attend this Magazine launch event?
Anyone who wants to celebrate the lived experiences and expression of women, non-binary and gender diverse people with disabilities are welcome to attend. This is a non-autonomous event, meaning that you do not have to identify as a woman, non-binary or gender diverse person with disabilities to attend.

What to expect at the event:
The event will be mostly casual, where you are welcome to arrive and leave as you please anytime during the 2.5 hour event. Part way through the event, there will be a short (5-10 minute) announcement from the front with welcomes, thank yous and any housekeeping.
Alongside the launch event there will be lots of snacks with food options that cater to dietry requirements including vegan and gluten free. You can indicate your dietary requirements in the registration form.
Additionally there will an exhibition taking place too. WWDACT is inviting those artists who contributed to the magazine to exhibit their artworks for the one day magazine launch. The works will be on show to the public for the duration of the launch from 1pm - 3:30pm so don't miss out!
About the Magazine:
Chronic Mischief is the culmination of art works and writing through the Our Autonomy workshops and peer events on telling your story, cutout poetry, collage, and crafts. These, combined with submissions from individual members, have been curated to showcase the lived experiences and expression of the women, non-binary and gender-diverse people with disabilities in the Canberra region and surrounds.
This publication provides a space for people to have their works celebrated and stories told and heard. Discussion about us is often describe as a burden, boxed by diagnoses, and allocated to funding categories. This erases the depth of who we are, be that cheeky, sexual, staunch, hot, soft, gentle, asexual, daring, tenacious, or sometimes even well.
Through this magazine we celebrate our talents, experiences, fulfilling lives we lead and our passions. This magazine is where women, non-binary and gender diverse people get to share whatever we would like to share, as we see it.
Accessibility information:
F Block gallery is Wheelchair accessible, a wheelchair accessible site map and/or walkthrough video will be updated here by at least a week in advance of the event. F Block Gallery at Gorman is a versatile, large space with high ceilings and exposed beams. There will be chairs available for attendees to sit down and WWDACT staff will be available to support any needs that arise on the day.
As it is a large space the sound may echo. This will depend on how many people attend as more bodies means less echo. We are not sure how many people will attend this event, but in order to provide a range, there could be between 40 -100 people present.
You can let us know about any specific accessibility needs that we can cater for in advance of the event as part of the ticket registration form (e.g. organising we have a specific kind of chair available, Auslan interpretation, for us to have earplugs available to reduce sound stimulation). Please don't hesitate to make specific requests and we will do our best to organise any changes or hire equipment that will enable this event to be as accessible as possible for you. WWDACT staff will get in touch if any requests need clarifying.
