Everything passes, nothing stays the same. Sometimes it seems as if all we can do is cast a nostalgic look back. And in truth, looking back at what has passed is a recurrent theme in the German lied tradition, imbued as it is with melancholy. German tenor Christoph Prégardien is well versed in this tradition. With the programme Memories, he now presents a selection of German lieder from different periods, his intelligent musicality manifesting itself in a sensitive dramaturgy, the culmination of a rich career. Recalled memories are at times accompanied by nostalgia, and grating irony more than once gives way to loss and mourning. Christoph Prégardien will be accompanied by pianist Stefan Litwin.
