About this Event
Book your free tickets during our Quiet Hour to explore our Christmas Tree Festival here at Worcester Cathedral. In 2024, it is bigger and better than ever, with 150 trees!
Our Christmas Tree Festival is extremely popular and at busy times such as weekends and school holidays can be quite crowded and noisy. This year we will be opening our doors an hour early on Saturday mornings (see below) and Monday 23rd December for a more relaxed, less busy, and quieter atmosphere. We will have limited tickets to ensure a less-crowded environment, and fewer stimuli.
During these times there will be no rehearsals or music and the Cathedral will be closed for general visiting, so you will be able to explore the Festival in a relaxed setting and at your own pace. You will also be able to explore the Cathedral during this time, if you wish.
These mornings will also be suitable for visitors with accessibility and/or mobility needs, those who are visually impaired, those with sensory needs, and those with additional needs who would prefer more space/time.
Please note that other than assistance dogs, no other dogs will be permitted.
This event is open to children and adults - please indicate numbers when ordering your tickets.
Times and dates:
Saturday 7th December, 9:10-10am
Saturday 14th December, 9:10-10am
Saturday 21st December, 9:10-10am
Monday 23rd December, 9:10-10am
Lights on trees
During the Quiet Hour the Christmas Trees will have their lights on, though they will not be flasing/twinkling.
Access and North Porch Landscaping
After entering the Cathedral through the North Porch you will be directed to the Cloisters via the ramp, suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs, and walkers. A relaxed one-way system will be in place. Please note the Cloister floor is, due to its age, uneven. Please also be aware that whilst we are undergoing landscaping works, access to the North Porch may change due to building works. Please follow the appropiate signage.
Bathrooms
There are male and female toilets and a gender-neutral disabled-access bathroom in the Cloisters.
Social Stories
New for 2024 we have a Social Stories booklet with information and pictures introducing the Cathedral to those who like to know before hand where they are going and what the environment will be like. To be sent one of these as a pdf, please email [email protected]
Parking
Whilst the Cathedral is undergoing landscaping work there is no longer drop-off or pick-up available at the North Porch. The closest car parks are King Street Car Park, Copenhagen Street, and Cathedral Square Car Park, all of which are council-run.
