Sir Knights,Per the orders of the Grand Commander, the Battalions have been reconfigured and as a result the Southeastern Battalion is currently composed of the following commanderies:
Detroit No.1, Detroit
Romeo No. 6, Saint Clair
Port Huron No. 7, Port Huron
Ann Arbor No. 13, Ypsilanti
Monroe No. 19, Monroe
Howell No. 28, Pinckney
Northville No. 39, Northville
Mt. Clements No. 51, Mt. Clemens
It was not that long ago that the battalion had regular meetings and observances but unfortunately that fell by the wayside and since the pandemic no attempts at meeting have been made, but with the change in battalion membership this seems like a welcome opportunity to call the battalion together again.
So pursuant to that goal of reviving activity within the battalion, we are calling a special meeting of the battalion to be held in conjunction with Detroit Commandery's Christmas Observance which will also serve as the Battalion's first official Christmas observance in many years.
This Christmas Observance will be held on December 15th at the Detroit Masonic Temple at 2pm with refreshments to follow and the Battalion Meeting to begin at 4pm. For those who have never been to one of Detroit's Christmas observances it is a lovely evening, and one I try to make it to with my family every year.
It is requested that all officers of the Battalion attend along with the Commander, Generalissimo, Captain General, of each member Commandery or their proxies. However, all Sir Knights and their families are encouraged to attend. Dress code is Commandery uniform without sword, for Sir Knights and Sunday best for family.
Based on the most recently held election the officers of the battalion are as follows:
Battalion Commander: Jack Mengel, Detroit No.1
Battalion Captain General: Brandon Mullins, Ann Arbor No. 13
Battalion Prelate: Carl Rufus, Monroe No. 19
Battalion Recorder-Treasurer: David Dossette, Northville No. 39
Our Grand Commandery representative is:
Grand Generalissimo: James D. Rutherford, Howell No. 28
The agenda for the meeting will include planning meetings and observances for 2025, reviewing the bylaws, and fellowship between our new members. It is also worth mentioning that per the traditions of the battalion, assuming our Recorder-Treasurer can find them, each Sir Knight who attends will receive a Southeastern Battalion pin for their uniform. And if Sir Knight Hawn could bring the Battalion Beauséant that too would be greatly appreciated. I still have the topper for it which I rescued from my house flood.
Yours in Templary,
Brandon Mullins
Battalion Captain General
