BEESTON CHRISTMAS FAIR & QUIZ TO SUPPORT ACCESS FOR ALLCouncillors Steve and Barbara Carr have campaigned for many years for inclusive access to parks, play areas and services both in Beeston North and the wider Broxtowe Borough Council area. With this in mind, they have announced that their adopted charity for 2025 will be The Richard Whitehead Foundation.
Richard Whitehead MBE is better known as 'The Blade Runner' after becoming a double paralympic Gold medallist at London 2012.
To start the campaign, there will be a Christmas Fair at the Nurseryman Pub on Derby Road, Beeston from on 23rd November- 11am until 5pm.
A number of stalls will be open offering a variety of gifts and trinkets just in time for Christmas. Ranging from sweets and toys to knitted animals, jams and incense.
Santa will be in his Grotto from 5pm for children to speak to him about their Christmas dreams. (£1 entry, small gift provided).
There will also be face painting for the kids and at 5.30pm Richard Whitehead himself will be judging a Children’s Christmas Fancy Dress competition.
Raffle tickets for a variety of great prizes are now available by calling into the Pub or by contacting Cllr Barbara Carr on 07817 558854. First Prize is a signed Nottingham Forest Football Shirt (2024/25 season)!
At 8pm there will be a General Knowledge quiz with the entry fee proceeds going to The Foundation and Macmillan Cancer Trust, Greene King’s chosen charity.
Councillor Steve Carr commented: “I am delighted that we are supporting these really worthwhile Charities and hope that the local community will come along to our first event. It should be a lot of fun and there is something for everyone over the course of the day”.
