About this Event
Join local author and historian Kathleen Maca for some holiday fun on a nostalgic stroll down Postoffice Street and learn what Christmas was like 100 years ago in 1924. Find out what gifts were all the rage, where locals did their shopping, and a few surprises along the way. You’ll never look at this historic district quite the same way again.
Your host Kathleen is the author of Galveston's Tremont House- A History, A History of the Hotel Galvez and three other books about local history.
We'll meet in front of MOD Coffee House at 2126 Postoffice Street to begin our journey into the past.
Please note:
Please wear comfortable walking shoes, and be aware of curbs and uneven walking paths.
No video or audio recording allowed during the tour, but still photos are encouraged. The buildings along this historic street are a beautiful representation of the past and present .
Guide takes no responsibility for injuries incurred during tour. There are limited restroom opportunities on the Strand, so it is encouraged to "take care of business" ahead of time.
Please purchase any drinks before the tour, as no stops will be made along the way. MOD Coffee at the corner of Postoffice and 22nd Streets offers a variety of hot and cold beverages.
Tour will be given rain or shine except in the case of a severe thunderstorm. Ticket fee is non-refundable.
Don't worry about printing your e-tickets - I'll have the guest roster with me.
