Everyone is welcome to come along and join us at St Cecilia's CS Church, in this special service for our children.Christingle means 'Christ-light'. Traditionally, the orange represents the earth, and the red ribbon the love of God revealed in the death and resurrection of Christ which enfolds the world. The cocktail sticks represents the four seasons and with their fruits and sweets represent the fruits of the earth for our use. The lighted candle set in the middle of the orange is symbolic of the Christian belief that Jesus is the Light of the World.
Traditionally, at a Christingle service, all the lights are turned off and when people light their Christingle candle, they think about how the birth of Jesus brought light to the world. Many Christian people find the Christingle service a special chance to reflct on how they can help others, being like a light in other people's dark times.
NOTE to parents and guardians, please look after the children, especially once the candles have been lit.
