About this Event
In this mini-retreat, we will explore contemplative meditation and prayer practices deeply grounded in the contemplative and mindfulness expressions of the Christian spiritual tradition. This morning retreat will share practices that, when reclaimed, deepen the life of faith and the power of our mission of love in the world when we begin to live more mindfully in God’s presence. In our time together, we will experience step-by-step instructions for the practice of Christian mindfulness. Then, in this Lenten season, we will explore and experience Lectio Divina, a practice of meditative reading, to deepen and expand our practice of scripture reading. There will be ample time for discussion and questions
The Rev. Dr. Steven Notis earned his master's in divinity from Boston University and his doctorate from Bangor Theological Seminary. He has served churches in Maine and New Hampshire since 1984 as a pastor with a strong interest in spiritual practice and leading small groups. He has led retreats and meditation groups in both Christian and Buddhist settings, as well as the Insight Meditation Center in his hometown of Newburyport.
