About this Event

About the Book:

ACCORDING TO PLAN is a joyful, swoony neurodivergent romance between two fat, bisexual teens with ADHD, set against the backdrop of a charming coffee shop and full of cozy, DIY zine vibes. It has already received starred reviews from Kirkus (who called it a “rich, authentic, and affirming story about building your community”) and School Library Journal (who called it “a cozy read and perfect distraction from life’s stressors”), as well as enthusiastic blurbs from Aiden Thomas (“warm, witty, and wonderfully queer”), Jonny Garza Villa (“a must-read”), Crystal Maldonado (“an absolute delight”), Kristy Boyce (“a total joy to read”), and more.

About the Authors:

Christen Randall (they/she) is a queer, fat, neurodivergent author of queer, fat, neurodiverse books, including their debut YA, The No-Girlfriend Rule, which was an instant USA TODAY bestseller, a NYPL and Waterstones best book of 2024, and recipient of four starred reviews (among other accolades). When they’re not writing joyful stories for the next generation of geeky gay kids, you can find them making zines about neighborhood cats, nerding out doing readers’ advisory as a library associate at their local library branch, or at home planning all the D&D campaigns they’ll run one day, they swear. Christen lives in Covington, Kentucky.

Jamie D’Amato (she/they) is a queer, autistic writer and sticky-note enthusiast based in Louisville, Kentucky. She writes quirky, heartfelt novels for teens and young adults. Jamie has her BA in Communications and Design from Northeastern University and is passionate about queer and feminist issues as well as disability and neurodivergence, and her writing tackles those topics with compassion. Outside of writing, she loves crafting and cosplay, analyzing media on Tumblr, playing so-called “casual” simulation games, and geeking out about story structure and craft. You can always ask her about her latest travels, or her dog, Luna.
