See the legendary folk/blues artist in a rare band performance, December 03, 7:30 p.m. at BlueShore at CapU. Tickets are $47.Veteran finger-stylist and songwriter Chris Smither has been performing for almost 60 years and continues to be a profound songwriter, a blistering guitarist, and intense performer as he draws deeply from the blues, American folk music, modern poets and humanist philosophers. His latest record, All About the Bones, can be counted among his finest works.
Smither’s steady touring and consistently acclaimed albums (20 of them) have cemented his reputation as one of the most respected acoustic musicians in North America. He has received many music awards, written music for many films, such as The Horse Whisperer, and scores of notable artists have recorded his songs, including Bonnie Raitt, Diana Krall, John Mayall and Emimylou Harris.
Chris Smither and The Motivators embarked on this rare band tour several months ago. The group features musicians from the recording session for All About the Bones. The record sports the unmistakable guitar sound Smithers has made his own meshed with spare, brilliant songs, delivered in a wise, hard-won voice. The Motivators are: producer/musician David Goodrich, Zak Trojano, and BettySoo.
“Firmly rooted and yet distinctly contemporary, Smither is the rare performer whose music feels both timeless and timely.” – Premier Guitar
