About this Event
Join local illustrator Chris Mould for a workshop, as part of The Book Corner's and The Grayston Unity's TOWN Festival.
Chris Mould will give attendees a taste of his new title, a graphic novel take on H G Wells’ War of the Worlds. Chris will talk through his inspiration and approach behind the book and will then invite you to join him in solving the problem …how on earth, do you draw an alien ?
Suitable for children and adults.
War of the Worlds will be published by Faber in October 2024:
In 1894, across space, this earth was being watched by envious eyes, and plans were being drawn up for an attack. What seems to be a meteorite falls to earth, but from the debris, unfolds terrifying alien life. A young man called Leon records his observations and sketches. In a full colour, graphic novel retelling of the classic, Chris Mould depicts the arrival of these giant martians that tower over woods and cities, seemingly ungainly at first, but then horrifyingly efficient when they begin to attack…
Chris Mould is an illustrator and occasional writer of children's books, based in Halifax. His books include A Boy Called Christmas, A Girl Who Saved Christmas, Father Christmas and Me, The Truth Pixie, The Iron Man, and Animal Farm.
