Carnegie Hall’s Second Stage Series wraps up the 2023/24 Season with consummate picker and gifted songwriter, Chris Haddox on Thursday, May 2, at 7 p.m. in the Old Stone Room. Guests are invited to come early to Club Carnegie from 6 – 6:45 p.m. A cash bar and snacks are available. Chris writes and performs guitar, banjo, and fiddle. Chris’s original songs are rooted in traditional music. All songs performed are honest expressions of how he experiences and sees the world. He wrote his first song in the second grade and has been writing ever since. He writes about the people, places, events, ups and downs, and in-betweens that continue to shape him. Some will make you laugh; others cry. Some will make you happy, others angry. Some will have you asking yourself, "What the hell was he thinking?”
In addition to being a stellar musician, Chris is a community leader who has directed Habitat for Humanity and worked to preserve old neighborhoods, a WVU professor of sustainable design, and an amateur musicologist who researches musicians from the southern coalfields of West Virginia. That’s a lot of breadth for someone the music community knows as a well-loved, easy-going consummate picker and gifted songwriter in the traditional folk, country, and Americana vein.
The Second Stage Series consists of five special events that take place in the Old Stone Room located on the ground floor of the Hall. The intimate setting creates a “speak easy” vibe with an eclectic line-up of entertainment. Seating is general admission and limited.
