On August 20th Scarborough Jazz Club welcomes the Chris Coull Quartet. Chris is a trumpeter well known for his energetic yet thoughtful be-bop styled playing and band leading. From his beginnings in Manchester, Chris was director of “Doha Jazz” in Qatar for 15 years, and has been based in Brighton for the past decade. Past excursions have seen him play at Royal Albert Hall, Isle of Wight Festival, Jazz At The Lincoln Centre and Appleby Jazz Festival. As a side man he has played alongside Alan Barnes, Tony Kofi, Jim Mullen and the late great Johnny Dankworth. His influences include Clifford Brown and Miles Davis with a good dose of Freddie Hubbard.
