About this Event
Chorro Creek Invasive Cape Ivy Removal
We wil be working on a property off of South Bay Blvd to remove up to 2 acres of invasive Cape Ivy. Cape Ivy effectively wipes out all native plants by forming a cover to block out light and suffocate existing vegetation. As it takes over, its shallow root system leads to creek bank erosion, and it leeches toxic substances into the creek that can be harmful to Steelhead Trout.
Thank you for helping to protect this important ecosystem! Please bring water, sun protection, and closed toed shoes. If you have gardening gloves and rain boots, please bring those as well! There will be a short walk through some ankle-depth water to get to the site. We will provide boots and gloves for those who need them.
Parking will be in a large dirt lot directly west of The Benedict on Quintana Rd in Morro Bay. Do not park in the paved lot. There will be signs to help! From there we will provide a 0.5mi shuttle to the work site. At the end of the event we will provide a shuttle back to the parking lot.
