On Sunday, November 17th the Cathedral will offer Vespers for the Dead. During this liturgy, candles with names of those who have gone before us will be lit and placed around the altar and the names of Cathedral parishioners who have died in the last year will be read aloud. The Cathedral Choir will sing works by the Renaissance composer John Sheppard and the prelude recital will feature Lyndon Meyer, Director of Music at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Tulsa, and Music Director of the Tulsa Opera.
The prelude will begin at 5:00 p.m. and will last about half an hour, vespers will begin immediately after the prelude.
A reception will follow in Monsignor Connor Center. All are welcome.
If you are interested in having a name placed on a candle, call the main office at 405.525.2349 or visit the table in the back of the Cathedral after Mass this weekend. Candles are available for a donation and the proceeds will cover burial costs for the homeless at Sr. BJ’s Pantry.
