About this Event

CHOP SUEY is Europe's number #1 and ALL STAR tribute to System of a Down, featuring Sam Totman from Dragonforce, drumming powerhouse Andre Joyzi (ex-Breed 77) and guitar slinging legend Tommy Hunt from Anti Nowhere League. Singer Martin Jackson from Confyde leads the charge with soaring, charismatic vocals.

Their journey began back in 2015 in the UK, founded by Andre Joyzi, then the drummer for UK/Gibraltar alt metal sensation Breed 77, who would go on to tour the world working as a roadie for such metal giants as Dragonforce, At The Gates, Cradle of Filth and Sinseanum. Combined with both a passion for playing music live and seeing the potential for high quality metal tributes in the UK scene and beyond, CHOP SUEY was born.

Almost immediately, Joyzi enlisted the vocal talents of lead singer Martin Jackson. After recalling seeing him perform with his previous project Emperor Chung at their warm up show before playing at Download Festival 2013, he knew straight away that Jackson's unmistakable singing quality and incredible vocal range was the only choice to do justice to the timeless songs of System of a Down.

The superb tone and playing chops of bassist Connor Meighan would quickly join the fold, who was currently performing for Mia Klose (who had also graced Download Festival) but who would later go on to tour as a member of distinctive UK metallers The Heretic Order.

CHOP SUEY's debut show in London was an overwhelming success and then continued to tour into 2016 when guitar player Ben Christo from The Sisters of Mercy joined up, adding not only his years of professional touring experience but superb backing vocals further enhancing the iconic harmony singing so crucial to SOAD's music. This iteration continued to wow audiences and pack out venues with a blistering live show, and culminated in an unforgettable sold out performance at the legendary Underworld venue in Camden.

Things were not letting up in 2017 with further relentless UK touring when Richard Shaw from Cradle of Filth took over on guitar duties, adding a truly virtuosic guitar flare and commanding stage presence to CHOP SUEY's arsenal of strengths. When they returned to the Underworld once again, fans were treated to a guest appearance from another guitar-slinging icon - Sam Totman of power metal trendsetters Dragonforce.

Sam enjoyed performing with CHOP SUEY so much he joined up to tour with them throughout 2019, this time on bass guitar and brought his unfettered sense of total fun and exciting stage antics to the set.

This brought CHOP SUEY onto its first ever international tour, all the way to New Zealand and Australia in early 2020 where for two weeks the four piece blew the roof off these venues, embracing a whole new level of touring intensity and cementing themselves as the tribute to watch for in these territories.

As the world began to ease its way out of the pandemic in 2021, CHOP SUEY was already planning how to best hit the UK's metal scene again. With Shaw's commitments with Cradle meaning he could no longer commit to another tour, the talents of Tommy Hunt from punk legends Anti Nowhere League came on board with his crushing guitar tone and great backing vocals. This is the current CHOP SUEY lineup as we know it today.

With another tireless UK tour, CHOP SUEY reminded everybody about the joy of live music, climaxing with a headline performance at Nottingham's world-famous Rock City venue, where they have continued to play in both 2022 and 2023. These second and third times formed part of CHOP SUEY's own immensely popular new touring tribute festival Forever Nu, where they, along with other leading UK metal tributes, delivered an extravaganza of nu metal nostalgia all across the country two years in a row. 2023 saw MetalHammer magazine attend and feature both CHOP SUEY and Forever Nu on their social media - please see link included*

But 2023 truly is where everything was stepped up tenfold, with CHOP SUEY's explosion of international touring, resulting in over 60 shows through the year. As well as intensive UK grassroots tour and the 2023 Forever Nu gigs, CHOP SUEY went on to conquer venues all across Europe, including Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Serbia and Croatia, and were joined on some of these by special guest Ashley Edison of glam metal icons TigerTailz. As well as this, Australian alternative magazine HEAVY featured CHOP SUEY in a full length interview and article, the first time any tribute had yet done so - please see link included**

2024 shows no signs of letting up, this year will see CHOP SUEY's most ambitious international touring year ever, returning to these same territories and many more...! Don't miss out on what promises to be another unforgettable heavy metal extravaganza paying homage to the timeless music of System of a Down, including all the greatest hits and deep cuts across their discography.
