Revelry Gallery welcomes back artist Jenna White for her second solo show, Chop, Stick. This is a celebration and an exploration her Japanese-American heritage. Chop, Stick is Jenna White’s first collection that delves into her connection with canonical Japanese art alongside cultural staples like food, plants, and modern cultural references.The medium of these works is an ode to the central use of paper in Japanese art. As the show suggests, Jenna "chops" & "sticks" different types of American and Japanese made paper to create her pieces through collage. Blending an American eye with the careful consideration of Japanese craft, Jenna reveals the beauty of her own blended ancestry.
Descended from a family of creatives on her father’s side, Chop, Stick pays homage to this lineage and is dedicated to her late grandmother, Nanny, Yukiko Ohashi.
