About this Event
Understanding vegetable crop plant families can help growers build robust crop rotations and understand common planting requirements. Different plants and varieties respond differently to pest pressure, weather and nutrient availabilities. This class will cover main vegetable crop families and relevant plant biology for each group. With a bit of background knowledge, it is easier to understand the relationship between soil health and plant health. This important relationship can lead to the success of increased yields and disease resistance. We will take a look at some of the specific challenges facing the Upper Midwest Region and learn how to use site specific information to make crop observations and decisions about varieties.
