About this Event
Check out a new way for the public to engage with our collection:
Choose Your Adventure, a collaborative storytelling activity using real history and materials from the California History collection of the California State Library. Loosely inspired by tabletop role-playing games like Dungeons and Dragons, Choose Your Adventure is both fun and educational. All you need to participate: a 20-sided die (which we provide), a little bit of history (also provided by us), and your imagination!
The first part of the session will be a tour of the reading room and the second part will be the activity itself. Participants will come out of this having learned about the different types of materials that can be found in the California History Section’s collections; new aspects of California history they might not have known otherwise; and ways to uncover more information on the topics. This month's session will be our new Pedestrianism adventure debuted at this year's Archives Crawl in October.
This activity is available Wednesdays in December (excluding the 25th) 2-3:30PM. We can accommodate up to 4 people per time slot. Sign up for a timeslot on your own to meet new people or attend as a group!
If more space is needed or if you prefer to have a private session with you and your party, you can of course reach out to us via email at [email protected]. Feel free to also reach out if you're interested in this activity but the times do not work for you. We'd love to hear from you and will do our best to accommodate your request.
