Our #Chocollaboration workshops are a chance to explore the creativity and fun in crafting your own chocolates under the guidance of expert chocolatier Jane Williams. What makes these sessions extra special is the collaboration with other local producers and ingredients. Each workshop is focussed on celebrating the flavours and textures of the guest ingredients; to harness them in the chocolate making process... and to create something totally unique. Each session will involve a special behind the scenes interview with a maker, and/or tastings of their product. And then Jane will demonstrate and guide you through making your own chocolate creations.In this #Chocollaboration we welcome Alice from Northumbrian Pantry. Having spent several years working in the Safari with her husband David, they have returned to their home near Simonburn. With community and sustainability at the heart of the business, they work with local growers in the community producing fresh and vibrant preserves and chutneys.
In a similar vein to Davenport’s Chocolates, they love to preserve and celebrate traditional methods and recipes. Many of the recipes used in the Pantry are family recipes of yesteryear, with some dating as far back as the 18th Century. Hannah Glasse, the famous cookery writer (1708 to 1770) is an ancestor of Alice and grew up in the same village where their kitchen is situated.
The evening will start with a guest interview from Alice, and a taste from their bountiful range, including;
Rhubarb & Strawberry Jam
Blackcurrant with Juniper
Mrs’ A’s Raspberry Jam
Strawberry Jam with Tellicherry Black Pepper
Chilli Jelly
Chocolatier Jane Williams will then demonstrate the chocolate making, and encourage you to be creative with the tools and ingredients of the chocolate factory at your disposal for the evening! For this #chocollaboration we will be focussing on:
Chocolate “Jam” Sandwiches
Chocolate Mediants with edible transfer designs
Chocolate dipped Strawberries
Jam & Ganache layered truffles
No previous chocolate making experience is necessary, perfect for a complete beginner, enjoyed by those with a lifelong chocolate mastery too.
Jane always says that the best bit about being a Chocolatier is testing and trying new flavours and techniques, and this is the experience you can enjoy in our #chocollaborations. We’ll teach you how to make the chocolates, but the flavour combinations, the choice of chocolate, the decoration are all up to you. The creations you take home will be yours and yours alone!
