Chocolate Making Workshop: Bean to Bar

Learn how to make healthy and delicious direct trade bean to bar chocolates in this fun hands on class using direct trade cacao and local organic ingredients. Led by wellness expert and cacao artisan Christina Kim. Set in the beautiful Green Almond Pantry space in Georgetown with a Mediterranean style seating and patio. A portion of the proceeds will be reinvested to purchase directly from award winning cacao farmer Efraín Puma and support his work in Cusco Peru.

Cacao is a heart opening medicine used since ancient Mayan times, and has been spread around the world as a sacred ceremonial and healing plant for thousands of years. Literally a “food of the Gods,” theobroma cacao is a superfood with the most potent antioxidants in the world, prevents Alzheimer’s, improves mood, and imparts bliss. Cacao was a luxurious beverage drank by royalty until the past century, and today is celebrated for its taste and terroir.

Chocolate today is a billion dollar industry that heavily relies on African trade with child slavery practices in 2022. Through direct trade business models, consumers can change the world with their buying power by dismantling the current model, small farmers and their communities are able to thrive, protect their environment, and keep the world healthy and happy with cacao’s “Food of the Gods” medicinal powers. Countries such as Peru and Mexico are ancient cacao origins, and by supporting their agriculture and people, earth and human connection can be restored.
