About my friend Trevor’s son MJ: Doctors identified what they thought was possible duplicated renal system while MJ was in utero. He was diagnosed with hydronephrosis shortly after birth and had to visit CHOC every other week. Everything seemed relatively stable until he turned 1 and MJ started throwing up uncontrollably once a month like clock work - to the point of vomiting blood. After a series of tests at CHOC and a panel of pediatric specialists from across the country, they surmised that MJ likely had a blockage and recommended an “exploratory procedure” to verify. The procedure verified the blockage and MJ was recommended for a 4 hour surgery to remove the blockage by cutting and reattaching his ureter. That’s the surgery he underwent 2 weeks ago. He’ll have at least 1 final procedure to remove the stint that is currently keeping the ureter open - allowing flow from the Kidney to the Bladder.
