About the programme
Ever wanted to learn more about the art of Chinese seals? Come join the Siaw-Tao seal carvers for a hands-on experience, where you will be able to carve your own seal! Under the guidance of experienced seal carvers, you will gain insights into the intricate details of seal carving.
This workshop, where carving knives will be used, is best suited for adults. Children under 15 years old must be supervised by a parent or guardian. Please note that library@orchard will not be liable for any injuries.
About the speaker
The Siaw-Tao Chinese Seal Carving, Calligraphy, and Painting Society was founded in 1971 by NAFA graduates Tan Kian Por, Lee Hock Moh, Tan Kee Sek, Lim Buan Chay, etc. The Society allowed members to hold regular meetings, where they exchanged views on and dedicated themselves to the traditional Chinese art forms of seal carving, calligraphy and painting.
As an active art organisation, Siaw-Tao has encouraged members to be active in the local arts scene. The Society also supports members in hosting overseas exhibitions or collaborating with international art organisations.
