Chinese New Year Storytelling Workshop - ENGLISH SESSION

The workshop aims to celebrate Chinese New Year through a festive storytelling session, sharing traditional legends and myths that explain the customs of the holiday. Children will learn about how Chinese New Year is celebrated, its cultural significance, and the stories behind its traditions. Participants will also create a Year of the Horset hemed craft to take home as a symbolic keepsake, combining hands-on creativity with cultural learning.
Suitable for children of Primary School age.
Venue: Westbrook Library
English Session : 2:00-3:00pm
Fee: £4 per child (Storytelling and handcrafting)
Participants: 15 children per session ( first come first serve)
Dress code(optional) : Chinese festive costumes or clothing in red
** Parents or carers are required to be present with their children throughout the
workshop to support participation and engagement.

Led by a Professional Storyteller
Ywing Yeung is a professional storyteller from Hong Kong with a passion for engaging young audiences through storytelling. Since 2020, Ywing has been delivering bilingual storytelling workshops in libraries, schools, shopping malls and bookstores, both in person and online. She also offers workshops and seminars for parents and educators, playgroups for younger children exploring how storytelling can support children’s development and learning, Ywing’s bilingual story-induced playgroups provide a fun and interactive way for children to connect with
language and imagination. Alongside her work, she volunteers her storytelling services, sharing the joy and benefits of storytelling with communities of all backgrounds. Her approach
combines creativity, education, and a love for storytelling, sharing the lasting influence of good stories, helping children develop both language skills and a lifelong appreciation for stories
