Join instructor George Lam and learn to make a staple of Chinese dim sum restaurants - Baked BBQ Pork Buns. Although not as well known as its sibling, the Steamed BBQ Pork Bun, this baked version is much more accessible to the average home cook and much more versatile.About the instructor:
George grew up in San Francisco’s Chinatown and as a way to connect his kids to their Chinese heritage, he asked Alison Forrest, the cook at Brewster-Pierce Elementary School, if she would let him cook Chinese New Year lunch for all the kids, not thinking that she would actually let him do it… but she did! This started a tradition that has continued for the last 20 years. Although they cooked a variety of different things in the early years, the thing that really stuck, and earned him the moniker of “The Pork Bun Guy”, was the pork buns. George has also sold Chinese take-out from his house and buns at the farmer’s market. So, over the years, he has personally made thousands of pork buns. Now you too can make these little “bundles of joy.”
