Background
The aviation industry as a whole accounts for approximately 3 per cent of total global carbon emissions. To promote carbon reduction the International Air Transport Association (IATA) has developed a clear roadmap for reducing emissions and a number of countries and regions including the European Union and the United States of America have set clear and mandatory requirements for the blending and use of sustainable aviation fuels. However in order to further reduce carbon emissions from the aviation industry and achieve a more sustainable development it is still necessary for regulators airlines aircraft manufacturers and fuel suppliers to work together to promote the green transformation of the industry through the collaboration and support of all links in the industry chain.
