About Our Special Guest
Peg Bird was born and raised in Williamsport and has lived in South Williamsport for 28 years. Her journey in scouting began in 1996 when her eldest son started Cub Scouting at the age of 6. She followed both of her sons through their scouting journey from Tigers through to Eagle Scouts, holding adult leadership positions including Pack Committee Chair, Cubmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster. After her sons attained the rank of Eagle and aged out of scouting, Peg stayed on to welcome and help build a female troop within the Susquehanna Council BSA, leading and guiding as their Scoutmaster for just shy of 5 years.
Recently, she stepped down as Scoutmaster and now sits on the Executive Board of the Susquehanna Council. Peg also helps train new scout leaders who are just beginning in the program, including an online female backpacking class for a scout council in the state of Washington. Peg continues to share her love of the outdoors and conservation whether through scouting or helping out within her surrounding community.
