Admission is $5 (plus the Eventbrite fee) - purchase your tickets at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/samhain-irish-halloween-family-event-102024-tickets-1002308460587 - ticket proceeds will be used as a donation for materials. Here are our event leaders:
Long time local musician & music teacher Margaret Fitzgerald has spent 43 years teaching students of all ages the joys on being involved & inspired by making & understanding music. Margaret will engage the children in storytelling, songs, drums and maybe a bit of dance as she uncovers the real Irish roots of Halloween! Get ready for some fun, chills and rocking rhythms!
Elizabeth Popiel [crafts, masks, shrouds], is an accomplished scenic designer for stage, TV and film. Her work for Samhain this year will include bringing out her skills in Props Artisanry to help the children create creature masks in the style of old Celtic lore and a cape type garment. Her prior craft works include puppetry, ceramic sculpture & scene painting which she cultivated as a professor for 30 years at SUNY Purchase, Colgate and WCSU. She holds an MFA in theatre design technology from Purchase, and currently works as Art Director for Good Morning America Weekend. Liz plays Irish Fiddle with Nora Hanley at GDICC and is a proud member of Comhaltas Ceoltóiri Éireann, who is sponsoring this fun event!
