Children's Hearing Screening

The Temple of Restoration's Helping Hands Ministry is excited to partner with NYU Langone Institute for Excellence in Health Equity on a free Hearing Loss Awareness and Screening Program for children ages 0-6.

Why is Early Screening Important?

• In the United States, 5 out of every 1,000 children experience hearing loss.

• Hearing loss affects a child’s quality of life and can delay their ability to learn a language, perform well in school and socialize with peers.
• Mild hearing loss can cause a child to miss as much as 50% of content covered in a classroom setting.
• Early hearing screening allows for early detection, diagnosis and treatment.
• Access to screening and timely treatment can reduce hearing loss and lead to improved quality of life.
